Jim Throne lives in Dunedin. He is an engineer with no formal art training. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was an exhibiting member and President of the Naperville Illinois Art League, and an officer in the DuPage County Art League. For more than a decade, he won awards for his airbrush acrylics and pen-and-ink drawings in juried shows throughout the Chicago area. When he founded his company in 1985, he stopped his art work.

He started painting acrylics again in 2007. He juried into CAG in September 2009. He was artist of the month 3 of the 8 CAG meetings between October 2009 and November 2010. His paintings received ribbons at the 2009 and 2010 CAG Christmas shows and at the 2010 Dunedin Fine Arts Member Show. He is a member of ISAP-Florida and PAVA. His primary subject matter is the nude figure but he occasionally paints portraiture, still life, and plein air. He is represented by H’Art Gallery in Dunedin.
